This year the Royal Opera takes on H.C. Andersen’s classic fairy tale in a free interpretation of the Snow Queen.
Kay and Gerda enjoy playing without a care in the world, but Kay also has a curious streak. He is fascinated by a magically alluring crystal ball, and an accident causes a tiny splinter of crystal to pierce his heart. Kay follows the Snow Queen to her enchanted castle, and Gerda sets off on a desperate quest to find him.
Get ready for the Snow Queen like you never seen it before with gender roles blurring (Kay played by a woman and the Snow Queen as a man) and great entertainment. This opera is certainly not for children or sensitive souls!
